RONA AND THE CALGARY FLAMES TEAM UP IN MAJOR PARTNERSHIP

Montreal, October 12 – RONA announced a major partnership with the Calgary Flames, last Tuesday, in a RONA store located at 2665, 32nd Street N-E, in Calgary. RONA is now the official home improvement retailer of the Calgary Flames hockey club and the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL (Western Hockey League).

Some of the key elements of this three-year partnership include permanent RONA branding at the Saddledome during the teams’ home games, as well as community outreach initiatives, namely the  renovation of a number of youth facilities. As part of this initiative, RONA will contribute labour, materials and expertise to every project selected.

Canada’s leading hardware and home improvement retailer hired experiential marketing agency Velocity to announce their new association. Some of the outdoor activities organized included air hockey table games; an inflatable slide for children; a slapshot hockey game; DJ entertainment; and the distribution of branded hockey souvenirs, which lent a festive and family-oriented atmosphere to the event. An autograph session was also organized inside the store, with the presence of Craig Conroy and Mikael Backlund of the Flames, who met and greeted fans.
